Maria is an experienced therapist with extensive training in orthopedic conditions. Her treatment approach is to provide quality patient-centered care for all her patients. She also believes patient education is a critical component of any successful treatment plan and works diligently to help her patients to understand their condition. She is very passionate about providing the highest quality of tailored care, while empowering her clients to become active participants in their rehabilitation. She combines manual therapy and functional exercise prescription as a part of her clinical practice.
Maria Graduated with Honors from Central University in Bolivia with a degree in Physiotherapy and Kinesiology. She later pursued her Master’s Degree in Education Sciences with a specialty in Superior Education. She worked as both a clinician and as a professor in her home country. As she believes in continuing education, when she moved to Canada she completed the Physiotherapy Bridging Program for Internationally Educated physiotherapists at The University of Toronto. She has also trained in the McKenzie method of diagnosis and treatment of spinal disorders as well as manual therapy in the Mulligan Concept. She continues to advance her credentials through post-graduate studies. She is also interested in women’s health and has already completed her Level I and Level II of Pelvic Health.
In her spare time she enjoys reading, hiking, practicing yoga and enjoying nature. She also volunteers at the University of Toronto as an examiner for the internationally trained physiotherapists who are preparing for the national exams.
Maria is a member of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association; Member of the Ontario Physiotherapy Association; and a Member of the Orthopedic Department and Women’s Health Department of the Canadian Physiotherapy Association. She is a member in good standing with the College of Physiotherapists of Ontario.
